For the 1956 model year, Lincoln introduced all-new models, and an all-new hierarchy. The Premiere, meanwhile, became Lincoln’s flagship. The car carried bright colours , ours is Amethyst with Starmist white roof. It was expensive, too, with a hardtop coupe, a four-door sedan, and a convertible all ranging between $4,600 and $4,750.
Only one motor was offered across the line: the 6030cc, 285-hp overhead-valve V-8 was mated to an automatic transmission. The mid-1950s Lincoln Premiere possesses an imposing road presence. It is large and striking, and carries with it a ton of 1950s nostalgia. The cars are also somewhat rare now Elvis had the same year and colour Premiere coupe, might even have been his!
This Lincoln was kept by its last owners in a town near Sacramento in the US for over 12 years until they were too old to use it. They had tried for 35 years to buy it from the previous owner, eventually they succeeded. It was imported into the UK by a American car enthusiast who then proceeded to have the car stripped and superbly repainted in its original colours and retrimmed in the lovely black and white scheme. It comes with with power steering and overhauled power brakes, this car copes easily with modern traffic.
The engine bay is detailed, all the fixtures and fittings are in excellent order, and the interior is in excellent condition. The front and rear electric windows go fully down giving a very open feel to the car if required, ideal for superb wedding photos. The front bench seat moves forward and tilts allowing easy access to the huge rear seat.
